What is your goal?
Something soooo basic, yet can you answer it clearly? Without stuttering or thinking too much?
Now, everyone sets goals, whether you believe it or not,
Sometimes we do it consciously and other times unconsciously,
It's just how we work as human beings,
What we get wrong sometimes though is,
We get stuck on what goals we should set, and if they'll actually take us closer to achieving The Ultimate Goal - (The ONE Thing that gives meaning to your life)
I've done it in the past (so don't worry, you're not alone) and you might still do it,
Setting mindless goals, or setting ones which are so small it's like an insult to yourself, or on the other hand, setting ones which are crazy that just end up killing your motivation.
Do you want to keep going around in this endless loop?
I'm sure you don't,
That's why today I'll teach you how to set goals the Proper way that ensures they're at the right level, but still push you and that you're actually excited to work towards.
You cannot hit a target you cannot see
My story :
When I was younger I used to (and still do) train to improve my football, I used to go on long runs, ride the bike, do body building exercises, plyometrics (jumping), gym sessions, ball drills and all that stuff,
Imagine, during the lockdown in 2020 I used to train 3 times a day for a total of 2 hours,
And I'd say to myself 'I'm so disciplined, no-one is doing what I'm doing, I'm getting ahead of everyone',
But at the same time I felt disappointed, I used to constantly tell myself 'I should be better than I am, I'm doing so much effort and I'm not seeing it translate into progress, what's wrong?'
I didn't know back then but now I do,
I was working on the wrong thing,
I lacked clarity, I was improving different aspects of my fitness and my health, but now ones that actually matter to me.
I wanted to improve my ball skills and have fun like a Brazilian kid playing with the ball but I just ended up feeling like a cringey grinder.
I Lacked Clarity...
I wasn't clear on what I wanted to improve and how I needed to do it, so I just threw sh*t at the wall and saw what stuck.
Had I just decided WHAT I wanted to improve and HOW to improve it I wouldn't have experienced that disappointment.
So please, for your sake, don't make my mistake.
''Clarity is perhaps the most important concept in personal productivity. The number one reason why some people get more work done faster is because they are absolutely clear about their goals and objectives, and they don't deviate from them''
Clarity, what is your goal? What do you want to achieve? And what actions must you take to get there?
That is clarity. 70% of people get lost in procrastination because of lack of clarity. (I made that stat up).
But still, if you didn't have that fuzziness that ;'I know I have work to do but I don't know WHAT work to do.''
If you just cleared that up you would be so much more productive.
Imagine you're in a log cabin in the woods, it's Winter so it's cold outside, the ground is covered in snow, you're inside with the fireplace on, cozy under your Hello Kitty blanket, but you hear a noise outside. So you get up to investigate, now the windows are covered in frost, like ice (what do you call it?) so you can't really see very clearly if it's a bear, a big dog, or a man in a bear costume.
And this is what you're doing to yourself in your day to day life. Since you're not clear about what you want to achieve and what it costs (sacrifices, not money) to get there. Clean that window in your mind so you can finally understand clearly what your goal is and how to achieve it.
People set goals they don't even know they set.
Read that again, it's a very important line.
In (this) article I explain how we ACTUALLY set goals, and it's not how you think.
Put very simply, we set goals through the thoughts we think, even unconscious ones,
And even the automatic thoughts you have when something happens.
But that's a side tangent,
We must CONSCIOUSLY decide what we want to achieve,
We must consciously decide what goals we want to achieve,
What goals we want to conquer,
OPEN YOUR EYES, so you can see the target.
Again,
What is your Goal?
Now do you get why that is so important?
Decide on what it is that you want to achieve and work tirelessly to get it
We need clarity, we need to know what goals we are chasing,
WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?
You can't run after a rabbit that's just a product of your imagination,
Cause even if you catch it, the best think that can happen is you being put in a psych ward.
The point is,
You can't catch what's not there,
See the goal as an object that you are moving towards,
Vividly imagine that goal so it feels real, it feels like it's a part of your life,
Don't treat your goals like something of minimal importance,
Your goals should be given a high priority.
And let's say I did want to catch a rabbit (a real one),
Here's how I'd do it;
I'd #1. Set my goal to have the rabbit in my hands/ on my plate
And #2. Figure out how I'm going to do #1 in the best and easiest way possible.
I hope you grasped how important this is.
Clarity. Clarity. Clarity.
What and How.
We're ending it a little differently today..
For the final time,
What is your Goal?
I'm a little bit pumped for this one but it's only because I see so many people say they're going to achieve big things but don't even have a goal they're working towards.
'I'm GoNnA bE a PrOfEsSiOnAl AtHlEtE'
'I'm GoNnA bE a MiLliOnAiRe'
Yeah of course. And how are you gonna get there? Do you have a plan?
These people piss me off so much bro, they're just trying to show you how ambitious they are, but REAL ambitious people DON'T care.
Anyway bro,
