How Meditation Changed My Life (and will change yours too)

If I show you a before and after comparison of how meditation changed my life you would not believe it.

The difference is that big and it feels even bigger than it looks.

I want you to imagine for a bit, your Mum, your friend or even a girl is speaking to you and no matter how hard you try you absolutely can't focus on what they're saying, you're actually putting in effort to listen, but your mind is wandering, it's thinking about the house you're gonna build in Minecraft, or the girl you're obsessing over this month or maybe a new promo that came out in your favourite game (Fifa for me).

Last time it happened to me in church, the priest was talking and I zoned out bro, I was thinking about a concept I read in a book, and it wasn't because he was speaking nonsense either, he was actually saying some valuable stuff. Then after like 5-10 minutes I caught myself and I said.

''Bro, you've been meditating for like 4 years, you've meditated for like 100s of hours and you're gonna let some thoughts win over you??'

And that's when I flipped a switch, literally, it's like I turned on my focus cause from then on I actually payed attention to what he was saying and actually took a thing or two. I don't think I lost my concentration once after I told myself off.

But had I not have done that I wouldn't have gotten those 2 insights from the speech, now for a singular occasion it's small, but think about it in the course of your entire life, how many of those insights or ideas or inspiration would you have missed just because you weren't paying attention?

I don't need to tell you how great meditation is, I already did here : Meditation Benefits

And if you haven't yet read the meditation articles read them here, I've worked hard on them to teach you all about it.

(This is literally how I meditate haha. On my lawn chair and in the sun.) (This isn't me btw)

How Meditation Changed My Life

Sometimes I'm astonished at how meditation changed my life, like how much it actuaclly changed it. I take a step back and it feels surreal.

Like bro sometimes even I'm surprised by it, I'm walking in the street, like maybe I'm going to the gym or to train or to the supermarket or something and I'm just THAT guy in the street, the guy who's smiling and laughing at my dumb*ss jokes (I probably look crazy to the people around me), the guy who doesn't break eye contact if I make it with someone (don't lie I know you do it), instead I hold it and give them a smile.

Imagine how great it would feel to stop breaking eye contact. I know you do it, I used to as well, but then I trained, I literally forced myself to hold it (sometimes I think I was a bit creepy not gonna lie) and now I can do it quite well.

Cause bro it's not like 'ohh it's just eye contact, no big deal', cause that's how I used to think. Eye contact is very very important, it's a way to connect with another person, it's a way to show them you are paying attention, it's a way to convey interest, and it's critical for your confidence. If you always break eye contact first it's like you 'lost' a battle, eye contact shows dominance and shows that you are comfortable, one of the true signs of confidence.

Think about the skinny, frail nerd. Do you think he holds eye contact when the popular girl or the athlete looks at him? NO, he breaks first both times because he's scared, and that shows them that he's weak and explains why he gets bullied so much.

Bro one time I set myself a challenge, like an experiment I was gonna do, I was gonna see the faces of people I walk by and try to decipher what emotion they're feeling.

Bro that day I don't think I saw 1 person smiling...NOT ONE!!

I went home all shocked and told my Mum, and from that point on I started to notice how few people smile/look happy on the street.

Do this the next time you're out of the house, try to notice how many people are smiling or at least have a content face, the amount will shock you.

And yes I must admit that occasionally I am that frowny guy in the street, I'm not perfect, I'm not happy all the time.

But what meditation has done for me is to get me out of my thoughts and into my body, I say this so much because it's so important.

Meditation will do something called 'Bring you into the present moment' now I know you've heard so much about it from those cliché commercials or the random middle-aged wannabe guru.

I'm not a guru, I'm just a shirtless guy in his room sharing what he's learned. Maybe you can call me a teacher or a guide (I kinda like that actually)

The point is, all the time we are so worried about so many random things going on that so rarely we stop and actually live the moment we are experiencing right now.

As the book 'The Way of The Superior Man' says, 'Don't get lost in tasks and duties, appreciate the miracle of existence'.

Live in the moment, actually have fun, like bro sometimes I'll just be in the corridor going up the stairs to the pitch I train at and I'll be whistling, or I'll be dancing or vibing to a random beat I made in my head.

Bro meditation made me appreciate living more, now I try to live as presently as I can so I make the most out of every moment because like sand in an hour glass, if it has already fallen then that time is gone

So if time goes by and you can never get it back you might as well squeeze as much out of it as you can, no point and no fun in being the loner or the depressed guy.

No one likes the sigma, he's not cool, he's cringe, aim to be the happy jolly hardworking guy.

Cause what gain will you get from hiding your happiness?

Meditation really made me feel like those guys in the African tribes, the guys who are laughing and dancing together around a fire.

And bro, by doing this you'll actually start to be more happy AND you'll actually get more done, so it's not sacrificing productivity for happiness, you can have both.

Life will start to feel like a teenage movie, (not that you'll never go through hard times but you'll learn to make more of the good times)

Imagine having a completely normal day and it still makes you really happy that you did the basics. You read, you meditated, you spoke to a stranger, you trained, nothing extra special, but it still gave you immense pleasure.

That's golden bro, imagine how good that feels, except you don't have to imagine, you can have it...

And It's literally just 10 minutes a day away.
